"Today's headlines and history's judgment are rarely the same."

- Condoleezza Rice

The media love to throw scaremongering headlines around and whilst, yes of course, there are changes in the economy, phrases like ‘cost of living crisis’, ‘soaring inflation’, ‘longest-ever recession’ and ‘uncertain times’ are far from helpful.

I thought it might be useful to share some data and insider knowledge on how the
market currently looks.

According to data from industry experts, the market has slowed slightly.
Which is obviously a knock-on effect from the changes in the UK and global economy.

However, people are still moving. Tens of thousands of people, in fact. Why’s this?
Let’s consider what we know about the human race and their need to move home:

1. People relocate - for work or school purposes or other personal reasons.

2. People have children and need more space.

3. People no longer need huge family homes and opt to downsize.

4. People marry, divorce, retire.

All of these instances can organically lead to a house move.

And there are still people moving just because they’d like to and people who are considering it an ideal opportunity to invest.

The important thing to know is that the best thing you can do if you’re considering moving is to identify the true experts in their field:

1. Find the best mortgage broker.

2. Secure the most proactive conveyancers.

3. Make sure you partner with an estate agent that will navigate the process in a way that is bespoke
to you and your needs in a market that is operating slightly differently to previous years.

And so, the newspapers might want to call it uncertain times, but I think the data (and historical events) shows us exactly what is happening.

Yes, there have been changes.

Yes, we’re in a recession.

But there are always changes and there will always be recessions.

I'd rephrase 'uncertain times' and call it simply 'a shift in the market'.

There are advantages and disadvantages in any economical shift.

Gather advice from experts who have weathered recessions before and know how best to navigate varying conditions.

If you want to chat about a potential move, I’d love to discuss it further with you,
please do get in touch.

All the best,
